WARNINGS
It is recommended to confirm the measurements carefully before proceeding with the purchase because the wool mattress can vary from height, weight, quantity of wool to width.
Since our mattresses are also customizable, having the perfect size of the base allows us to do an "excellent" job without errors.
Before proceeding, call the Valle di lana company on 3468288937 or 3460307943 to confirm everything.
In an age of industrial plastics and synthetic foams, the Valle di Lana Traditional Mattress is a return to true luxury. Handcrafted in Abruzzo using the same techniques passed down for generations, this mattress contains absolutely no metal springs and no synthetic layers. It is simply a massive, cloud-like embrace of Pure Virgin Wool encased in high-quality Cotton.
100% Metal-Free (Zero EMF): Perfect for those sensitive to electromagnetic fields or those who want a completely natural sleeping environment. Without metal springs, there is no magnetic interference—just pure, neutral rest.
Unmatched Breathability: While memory foam traps heat, a full-wool mattress allows air to flow through the entire core. It absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, keeping you dry and preventing rheumatic pain.
The "Floating" Sensation: Without the "bounciness" of springs, the comfort is unique. It feels grounded, silent, and deeply supportive. The wool condenses under your body to create a custom mold that supports your spine naturally.
Infinite Life (The "Refaking"): This mattress doesn't die. Every 8-10 years, instead of throwing it away, you can have it "refurbished" (washed and re-carded). It is a lifetime investment.
Filling: ~14-16 kg of Pure Virgin Sheep Wool (for Double size). Washed, carded, and sterilized.
Cover: 100% Natural Cotton (Available in various weaves like Damask or Plain).
Structure: Hand-Tufted. The mattress is stitched through by hand to keep the wool in place and ensure stability.
Height: Approx. 20-22 cm (Note: Height settles over time).
Firmness: Medium-Firm (Becomes firmer as the wool settles).
Origin: 100% Made in Italy (Abruzzo).
⚠️ CRITICAL MAINTENANCE ADVICE This is an artisanal product, not an industrial block.
The Settling: In the first 2-3 months, the wool will compress naturally under your weight. The mattress may lose some height and become firmer. This is normal.
Rotation: You MUST flip the mattress and rotate it head-to-toe at least once a month (more often in the beginning) to ensure the wool settles evenly and prevent dips.
The Base: Use a slat base with narrow gaps. If slats are too far apart, the wool will sink through.
Is it suitable for side sleepers? Yes. The wool compresses to accommodate shoulders and hips, but it offers a "dead" support (no bounce back). It is very comfortable, but different from modern spring mattresses.
Is it difficult to handle? A pure wool mattress is heavy and flexible (it doesn't have a rigid frame). Moving it is a two-person job. However, its "floppiness" makes it easy to fold if you need to transport it.
What happens if it gets a dip in the middle? Minor body impressions are normal. If a significant dip forms, it usually means the mattress hasn't been turned enough. You can often fix this by beating the mattress (like a rug) to fluff up the wool and turning it more frequently.
Is it good for allergies? Yes, provided you are not allergic to wool itself. The dry environment it creates is hostile to dust mites, making it generally safer than synthetic mattresses where mold thrives.
